Purpose:
|
To determined therapeutic effects of lanosterol on cataract created by Dexamethasone in animal model chick embryo
|
Methods:
|
In this experimental study, 50 eggs divided into five groups including healthy, positive, negative control and dexamethasone 40 with concentration of 0.1 and 0.2 mlmolar “lanosterol”.
On the day fourteen for inducing Cataract, 4 mcmols of dexamethasone with “lanosterol” was injected into the chicken embryo inside the egg and 48 hours later the eyes of chicken embryo were examined by two ophthalmologist under the slit lamp. After data was collected, they analyzed by Exact fisher in SPSS software version 18.

Results:

: The current study showed that the lens of chicken embryo’s eye that receiving “lansterol” in comparison to the control group of dexamethasone has been improved and also rate of clouding that examined with slit lamp has decreased. Furthermore, with increasing “lanosterol” dose In this study, sings of improvement was more significant. Data analysis showed a significant difference in rate of lens cloudiness in the groups receiving “lanosterol” and cataract control group. (p<0/05)

Conclusion:
|
Using new methods for treatment including new drugs such as “lanosterol”, due to less complications than surgery procedures, can lowering the costs of complications of cataract disease and replace the surgical procedure.
