Purpose:
|
to determine the prevalance of retinopathy of prematurity and to evaluate the possible neonatal risk factor for ROP.
|

Methods:
|
This study was performed on 960 infants reffered to the ROP clinic of bandar abbas hospital between 1394-1396 . After recording the demographic data, the prevalence of ROP in all newborns was recorded. Chi-Square and Mann-Whitney tests were used to compare the data.

Results:
|
The results of this study showed that the prevalence of ROP in premature infants in the present study was 39.1%, and had a direct and significant relationship with low gestational age, low birth weight and triplet pregnancy (P <0.05). we showed that the incidence of this complication in newborns significantly decreased from1394 to1396 (P <0.05).

Conclusion:
|
the incidence of ROP in this study is higher than previous studies in our center. this may be due to advances in neonatal intensive care unit equipment and surveillance. all new born with GA ≤34wk and BW ≤2000g. must be screening.
