Purpose:
|
Limbal stem stem cells are important factor in the pathogenesis of pterygium. We aimed to present the efficacy of limbal stem cells and conjunctival autograft transplantation during pterygiun excision .
|

Methods:
|
Twenty-one eyes of 21 patients with grade II-III pterygium were included . Pterygium excision surgery was performed and followed by limbal stem cells autograft supratemporaly . Recurrence and complications rate within a mean follow-up period of 12 months was studied.

Results:
|
Recurrence of pterygium occurred in only one eye . There were no significant complications
|
|
Conclusion:
|
Limbal stem cells and conjunctival autograft transplantation is a safe and effective technique for the treatment of grades II-III of pterygium.
